When you have completed your application, turn it into the Human Resources Department located in the Hendricks County Government Center. Enter the Northwest doors and go up the stairs (first floor). Human Resources is the first office on the left. Their hours are Monday - Friday 8am-4pm.

RESERVE OFFICER REQUIREMENTS

Must be a United States Citizen
Must live in Hendricks County
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must not have a recorded conviction of a felony
Must have a substantially clear automobile accident and traffic record in the sole judgement of the Department
Must have a valid driver's license
Must be willing to submit to a driving test administered and evaluated by Department personnel
Must have a verifiable, good record of previous employment
Must be in sound mental and physical health
Must be willing to appear for an interview by Staff officers
Must be willing to submit to a thorough character investigation by the Department
Must be willing to work different shifts and days
Must be willing to be fingerprinted
Must refrain from any political activity prohibited by law
Must be willing to work 16 hours a month plus attend a regularly scheduled meeting once a month
Must have successfully completed the 40 hour pre-basic course for Reserve Officers.

Uniforms and equipment are furnished by the Hendricks County Sheriff's Department, including firearms. The ballistic vest must meet Department standards and be provided by the Reserve Deputy.

HENDRICKS COUNTY DEPUTY SHERIFF
MINIMUM MANDATORY EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Applicant must be a United States citizen.
Applicant must establish a residence in Hendricks County within the first year of employment.
Applicant must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age at the time of appointment.
Applicant must not have any recorded "felony" conviction of any kind or "misdemeanor" conviction, which involves violence or immoral conduct.
Applicant must have a substantially clear traffic offense record.
Applicant must submit to a thorough physical agility and mental health examination by competent professionals, designated by the Hendricks County Sheriff's Department.
Applicant must have a valid Indiana driver's license
Applicant must have a verifiable previous employment record and be of good moral reputation.
Applicants must successfully complete a battery of written tests.
Applicants must submit to an oral interview and undergo a thorough personal background investigation.
Applicants must be willing and able to work 12 hour shifts.
Applicant must successfully complete the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy basic training course and become fully certified within twelve (12) months of employment.
