Hendricks County Highway Department Mission Statement
"Our mission is to ensure the safety, efficiency, and reliability of the transportation network in Hendricks County. We are committed to maintaining and improving our roads, bridges, and infrastructure to support the growth and well-being of our community. Through innovation, transparency, and a focus on sustainability, we continually strive to deliver high-quality public services, respond to the needs of our residents, and enhance the quality of life for all who live, work, and travel in Hendricks County."
The Highway Department is responsible for maintaining 752 miles of roadway, 259 bridges, and over 900 culverts. Our jurisdiction is all roads outside of Town or City boundaries that are not State or Federal highways.
Duties performed include:
- Patching
- Paving roadways and shoulders
- Snow removal
- Street sweeping
- Mowing right of way
- Drainage along roadway
- Bridge and culvert maintenance
