Join us for an interactive and informative evening workshop designed specifically for homeowners associations (HOAs), property managers, contractors, and community leaders. This session will cover the essentials of stormwater management and the role of HOAs in protecting water quality and reducing localized flooding.
Participants will learn about:
  • The basics of stormwater, its impacts on the environment, and how local flooding and pollution are connected.
  • Key regulatory requirements, including the EPA’s Clean Water Act, IDEM’s MS4 General Permit, and Hendricks County’s and towns’ local ordinances.
  • How stormwater infrastructure—like wet and dry ponds, green infrastructure, and mechanical stormwater systems—is designed to reduce pollution and manage runoff.
  • Practical best management practices (BMPs) for HOAs, with a focus on inspection, maintenance, and communication with the local MS4 program.
  • Simple steps residents can take—like picking up pet waste, limiting fertilization, and planting native plants—to protect local water resources.
A short break and Q&A session will be included, with time at the end for individual questions or site-specific concerns. Whether you’re maintaining a retention pond or just curious about what’s required by your community’s stormwater permit, this workshop offers clear guidance and actionable information.
