Cyclical Reassessment Facts Sheet

Reassessment Groupings

Per Indiana Code 6-1.1-4-4.2(a) - The reassessment plan must divide all parcels of real property in the county into four different groups, and each group must contain at least 25% of the parcels within each class of real property in the county. The reassessment begins May 1 of a year and must be completed before January 1 of the following year.

To meet the state requirement for reassessment of 25% of the parcels each year, is not always possible to assign areas based on geographic location.

For example, townships could be divided in half, particular property types, or even particular sub-divisions within the same town could be reassessed in different year.
